![]() ![]() The result has added to the burden on those who pay income and corporation taxes, which are doing the heavy lifting in restoring the country’s fiscal health. Alcohol brings in 1.3% of receipts, shrinking from 1.7%. Revenue from tobacco now makes up just 1% of total public sector receipts, down from 1.9% two decades ago. He also faces the task of pivoting the Treasury away from fuel duties as the auto industry shifts from petrol and diesel vehicles toward ones powered by electricity. The findings underscore the challenges facing Hunt from a fast changing society and tectonic generational shifts. ![]() That has forced Hunt and predecessors to boost other taxes when stabilizing the public finances with the Treasury’s overall tax take from the economy heading to the highest level in the post-war era. The government would have taken in an additional £9.3 billion in revenue from tobacco duties and £4.7 billion for alcohol if the level of income from those levies had remained stable since 2002, according to a Bloomberg analysis of official estimates. The decline of so-called “sin taxes” on tobacco and alcohol in recent decades have left a £14 billion ($17.1 billion) hole for the Treasury to fill as younger generations switch away from cigarettes to vapes and turn off the booze altogether. Just some food for thought, if you’re going to review something, especially something like this, it’s best to watch the source material (in this case, Sugar Rush) to get a better idea of this one, before writing a review that, quite frankly, sounds like you were forced to write, vs something you actually wanted to write.(Bloomberg) - Generation Z’s reputation for monkish living - smoking and drinking far less than their predecessors - is turning into yet another problem for the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt. While I wouldn’t say this is a must watch, i would say this is worth the time and worth far more than 2 stars, for those that like Sugar Rush, Zumbo’s Just Desserts and the other competition shows on Netflix. Sugar work is beautiful and the process is interesting to watch. They had a variety of them and they were specials more than regular series. I wonder if the reason for just one episode is due to the pandemic and lockdowns? Anyway, this reminded me of the competition shows that used to be on Food Network about 10 or so years ago. I liked Sugar High, but thought it was a full season when I saw it in the latest releases stream, today. This is 40 minutes of your time that you can keep. Stick to Sugar Rush, at least the release makes sense. Sugar High was just created for the sake of it. Netflix is producing a lot of cooking shows at present, coupled with cooking-travel documentaries and Sugar High easily stays at the bottom of the pile. However, Sugar High is very standard, showing no originality in its format at all and the only positive is watching that sweet candy get produced for the judges. What makes a cooking show is how they spice up the format to try and make it extra-special. Like any show like this that revolves around cooking, the format is regularly the same. Of course, because it’s a reality competition, contestants are eliminated for not being sweet enough. ![]() ![]() These sweet connoisseurs do things with sugar that I’ve never seen before and I was uniquely impressed by what was delivered. Anyway, Sugar High is a series pitting sweet enthusiasts against each other to make the best candy in the most innovative and artistic way. ![]()
